Thanks for the info. I read two reviews prior to buying which gave the PQ 5/10 & 6/10 so I wasn't expecting greatness, but I was expecting better than VHS quality! :p Couldn't find any reviews on the Chinese Ghost Story 3 blu ray. I got these fairly cheaply so won't be gutted if the transfers are on the bad side!

For the most part it's DVD quality. Just one scene (Can't remember which now) which was very bad and put me in mind of VHS. I was watching on a 106 inch screen though, so any imperfections tend to leap out at you.

As long as you knew what you were getting, it should be fine. Was dreading someone expecting a high quality restored movie on blu-ray.

It's a shame that some of the great films of the 80's & 90's Hong Kong have been treated so bad. I started buying up all my favourites on blu a while back, but having seen the tripe that Kam & Ronson have put out, I've stopped. Same with the US Dragon Dynasty releases. Utter crap.

This fits in the 'What's the most you've paid for a DVD' thread, but I recently spent $50 on the OOP Anchor Bay double feature of Possession and Shock!

All films need a good BD release. Isn't the quality good? The stills from the Region A release looks fine anyway :)

A quick scan through CEX's website and spotted these two. Series 1 was £5 series 2 was a tenner. Their both fairly difficult titles to pick up and series 1 at least is an absolute classic of the genre.

Result!

Leider hat das Dokumentarfilm meisten Deutsch und Französische Sprachen und hat nur Deutsch Untertitel. Schade. Unless you are trying to learn German in which case the lack of english sub-titles may be a blessing.

The transfer is o.k., just not sure the original materials really warrant the upgrade from DVD to Blu.

I have US blu-ray and it looks really good in general and a big improvement on any DVD I've ever owned. Hopefully someone will compare the two sometime because that does look like a nice package.
