There was no press screening in Liverpool so the distributors sent a VHS time code to share around all the film reviewers. The quality was grim but I loved the film. Then when it opened, soon after, my mate's grandma died and he was distraught. I took him to see it without telling him anything about it. It's his favourite film to this day.

There are many great Criterion Collection BDs which you could've bought, but not many better for the first purchase and introduction to the world of Criterion than Videodrome.
