Just ordered 2006's Texas Chainsaw Massacre: The Beginning from French Amazon. My second 'slasher' in recent days. Cost just over 21 pounds with shipping. Kinda pricey for a 4 year old, bare bones blu-ray but it's the 3rd Texas Chainsaw Massacre film that I truly respect and importantly, the French bd is the unrated version and is fully English friendly. I like the original film, the remake and this following prequel (have always personally found Hooper's TCM2 a bit too comedic for my liking and therefore haven't picked it up yet).
Rik, keirarts, trebor8273 and 2 others like this.

I don't believe I've seen TCM The Beginning. I really liked the first remake, i take it you consider The Beginning better Sym?

I like them both, but I do prefer the first remake, they get a lot of stick (mainly because of Michael Bay), but they're both loads better than the shower of shit Next Generation!

I think they are both utterly putrid and haven't seen them since I first saw them a decade ago. I hate the aesthetic, clumsy writing, and the unforgivable lack of anything which is remotely scary or discomforting.

Were you ever a writer for 'Babylon 5'?

GUARD: I don't watch TV. It's a cultural wasteland filled with inappropriate metaphors and an unrealistic portrayal of life created by the liberal media elite

That wasn't me – I'm not that cynical!

The other thing I hated about The Texas Chainsaw Massacre: The Beginning was something I really didn't care for in Rob Zombie's Halloween films: giving a back story to the antagonists in the original films. They are scarier when you know very little about them and their motives. When you explain everything about them, the mystery disappears and it seems to be an insult to part of the reason why the original movie was so effective.

Actually no, Beginning is easily the lesser film when compared to the remake. But it's still a pretty good slasher film. So not as good but still well worth acquiring if you were a fan of the 2003 movie.
