Like both of Neil Blomkamps previous films though and for a quid I didn't think I could go that far wrong. | Chappie is different to Blomkamp's previous films, but also similar in its aesthetic and the way it deals with an outsider in a dystopian future. I wasn't keen on it when I saw it for the first time, but last time I watched it, I thought it was thought-provoking and engaging. It's probably not as strong as District 9 in the way it immediately grips the viewer, but it stayed with me for a while after it finished and is something I found has, like his other films, benefited from repeated viewings. |
