This is not a bad idea. I've been going through it already and adding my own ideas, so this is a provisional list:

Topics

• Time travel, or where time plays a prominent part
• Killer Mammals – not including werewolves, fish or whales!
• Sequels, one list for horror, one for non-horror – try to keep it to one per series/franchise
• Video nasties – from the 72
• Vampire movies
• Remakes (best and worst)
• Zombie/infected
• Twins/lookalikes
• The Creative Process – films about filmmaking, writing, composing etc.
• Metamorphosis – a main character undergoing change
• Twist/trick/surprise endings
• Horror films not in the English language
• Serial killers
• Spy films, or those where the main character is engaged in espionage
• Detectives – two lists: Film Noir and Giallo
• Revenge films
• Sport films
