Scrooged (1988) ★★★★ One of the funniest Christmas films and a really interesting take on Charles Dickens' timeless tale. It's a film that succeeds because of Bill Murray's tour de force performance, one where you're never quite sure whether he is following a great script or ad libbing. Mickey’s Once Upon a Christmas (1999) ★★½ It's pitched very young without broad appeal so isn't a family film, sadly, one just for children. The fairly basic writing means there isn't anything for adults, so I struggled to watch it to the end.

The Christmas Chronicles. 2018. A brother and sister attempt to catch Santa Clause on camera which results on a journey to try and save Christmas before time runs out and the festive cheer dies. This was the first time I have seen this film and won't be the last, I had tears of laughter running down my face, Kurt Russell nailed it as Santa who seems to think pictures of him are practically a insult. Judah Lewis and Darby Camp play the siblings who seem to fight against each other until fate brings them together, a real feel good festive movie. bbee2f54f02542007bfc7759ad1f655c3aa51b70.jpg

Have too agree with Justin , not a patch on the first and could of done with out the flashbacks of the first which takes up nearly half the movie. We do get a couple of good kills and that evil old bat gets her comeuppance. 5/10 Inept burglars , the wet bandits are robbing homes in the Chicago area , but little do they release that they are in for a world of hurt when they try to rob the home of young Kevin whose been left home alone and defends his home with dangerous and painful traps. A great family Xmas movie with some very painful Tom and Jerry type violence, A classic. 9.5/10 |

scrooge_UKquad1.jpg SCROOGE (1951) For me, the best of the Christmas Carol adaptations. Alastair Sim is just perfect as Scrooge. The film is a joy to watch start to finish. |

Silent Night, Bloody Night. 1972. Jeffrey Butler returns to his family home on Christmas Eve in order to sell it along with Mayor Adams daughter Diane uncover the secrets of the house. This one I have mixed feelings about, could be of the incest that is told in the plot and insanity surrounding the back story of the house, It didn't really have me on the edge of my seat but had a fairly good plot twist in the end, even though John Carradine has a small role in the film he never utters a word just grunts but manages to keep us guessing as to what he may or may not know about what secrets lies within the town. maybe a re-watch would be in order. hqdefault.jpg

SNBN is one I've returned to time and time again. I could just say it's like if Andy Milligan really tried now, but that would be revisionism tee hee. REWATCH!!!

The Polar Express (2004) I love the visuals on display here from the roller coaster like train journeys across frozen landscapes to the wonderful Christmas look of the North Pole. It's a superb spectacle. Such a shame they had to populate this feast for the eyes with humans to tell an unnecessary story. Just let me sit on the train and enjoy the view. |
