Carry On Loving (1970, Gerald Thomas)

The one with the cake fight at the end.
Sid & Hattie are liars who trick lovelorn idiots out of their cash, though his wandering ways may put the kibosh on their wee nest egg harumph.
Mostly remembered for the Butterworth cameo (" she wouldn't eat the mushrooms" ... what a punchline ), this one did make me larf regardless of how threadbare it seems once its all over. Kenneth excels as a "confirmed bachelor" (COUGH) who is forced to look for a partner in order to keep his job!! How times change. Girls next methinks ....

Carry On Regardless (1961)

Our gang are all on the dole this time, but Sid has a job for all with his new agency, so things turn out alright. Stanley Unwin pops up as their rather irate landlord, even this plays out reasonably in the final scene ahem. Yet again, the early films have more incident and less filth. Joan excels in a drunk scene and Ken's tea party is the epitome of charming imho.

Paranoiac (1963, Freddie Francis)

Hammer does Gaslight time.
Faaaamily fun here as a returning sibling puts the cat amongst these pigeons and then some. Another economically told tale, and all the better for it. Hadn't seen this since a late night showing on tv years ago, so this was nicer looking certainly.

Always wanted to see this.

Family pressures force his hand, and he accepts.
What follows ... isn't quite as cute as it thinks it is. Dougray Scott does well with what he has, and Karen Gillan pops up in an early bit part. It was fun spotting bits of Edinburgh certainly, and it didn't outstay its welcome, but whether I'll return to it ... hmmm.
I was trying to remember the title of this film for the past week
