Cool It Carol (1970, Pete Walker)

London. It's all happening, if you know where to look.
Two bumpkins travel to the big smoke in search of new horizons. What they find isn't on any map ahem. Whilst the boy flounders, the girl finds that city folk can be very hospitable ahem.
Falling in with some shady sorts, they find work is where you find it.
Tis all a bit twee in the end, but I chose to see this in a positive light.

I needed cheering up after that Insidious tat, so stuck on

Carry On Cowboy

Being the tale of mistaken identity and revenge set in the Old West, or Surrey etc ahem, with most of the usual crew propping up that saloon bar y'all
Never a favourite whilst growing up, I've grown to love their mosey into this particular genre, the earlier ones did pay more attention to detail and it pays off. Hawtrey guzzling "firewater" somewhat bittersweet ahem. Pertwee again makes the most of his cameo role.

Psychopaths (2010, Jason Impey)

Somewhat inspired by QT, this vile little thing (76 min) would not get made as is today no sir, don't think so ...

Two nutters escape from jail. The filth are on their tail.
That's it. Every third word is the c word, it was obviously filmed on the director's "manor" so to speak, aaaaand the acting is sub par across the board.
Lemons!

New Town Killers (2008, Richard Jobson)

Always wanted to see this.
A young man is offered entry into an unusual "game", a version of hide and seek ... with a sting in the tail.
Family pressures force his hand, and he accepts.
What follows ... isn't quite as cute as it thinks it is. Dougray Scott does well with what he has, and Karen Gillan pops up in an early bit part. It was fun spotting bits of Edinburgh certainly, and it didn't outstay its welcome, but whether I'll return to it ... hmmm.

A Haunting In Sherwood (Richard Mansefield)

Another housebound adventure, this time was slightly more effective than the last effort of his that I perused. An investigator is given an unusual task that is outwith his standard remit. What he finds isn't on any manual. Not the worst thing that I've seen this year. Basically a three hander, I did stick with it mainly to see if the cats the chap under investigation had would "play along"
Ahem.

Comfort & Joy (1984, Bill Forsyth)

Revisiting this one is always a gateway to many memories. The initial loathing for it as it did not float my boat in the way his other films had, callow demon was very stroppy harumph, the eventual rediscovery through the vhs and now I have it on BD. Full circle?
A disc jockey finds more than extra sauce when he stops to buy some ice cream to commiserate being dumped. Based on a slightly more violent real life case, this is probably the high point of the director's "grounded whimsy" worldview. The cast all play their part, though some performances convince more than others ahem.

Round to mates again and he had sprung for the Michael J. Murphy set.
Picking two completely at random, we ended up with ...

Bloodstream (1985) and
Road To Nowhere (1993)

The former being the tale of a "jilted" director who plots his revenge with an accomplice. Decent enough, though the acting was a bit ropey in places.
Was more impressed with the latter, a holidaying couple find they have some extra guests when an escaped nutter sets up camp in their abode. Somewhat sleazier than the first, this one held our attention more readily.

Both films were made competently enough imho.
