The Legend of Hell House (1973)
Just watched this again, forgot it was set around this time of year, although not exactly a seasonal film, obviously not as good as The Haunting but still a cracking movie from Richard Matheson story and Roddy McDowall is always good value

Last night: The Girl With The Dragon Tattoo (2009) - wonderful. Beautifully paced throughout it's hefty length, wonderfully acted (especially Michael Nyquist), excellent story. Very Noir. Devil (2010) - mediocre rather than bad, but not much of a film. The best thing about it is that it was short...but it was not short enough; it might have made an OK half hour Twilight Zone kind of thing, but was too fluffy and thin for a feature. The lead was not good enough to carry his part either. Not recommended. |

Well, i watched Black Belt Jones II, and i loved it. the atrocious crackly print was a bonus, as was Kelly's wooden acting. every time he appears on screen, the film takes a dive. a charisma free zone he is. also features the slowest fight sequence ive seen in years. THIS IS A MUST! pure exploitation for explotation's sake, it features sleazy crooks, scheming tarts, inept bodyguards et al. the "plot" revolves around a stolen diamond, but its merely a macguffin....the rollercoaster ride that are the (many) set pieces make this an essential purchase for any lover on cinema. word. in fact im going to watch it again tonight!! seriously thinking of showing this on boxing day (along with CF...) now....

Deck The Halls Second time i've seen this now, after last years premier. It improved second time around and i really enjoyed it. Funny, but not as funny as Christmas with the Kranks or Christmas Vacation, however far better than Jingle all the Way. Its daft and funny rather than silly and childish. Danny Devito and Matthew Broderick perform well opposite each other as the fueding neighbours and Kristin Chenoweth is just lovely full stop. Some good set pieces and amusing lines make this a fun family comedy with enough smut to make adults laugh without embarrassing the kids. |

Watched Nirvana ,a movie about the human degeneration and our dependence on machines and Le Diner de Cons ,a comedy with the great Jacques Villeret
