I'm quite sensitive to spoilers and certainly try to be considerate regarding them, but I don't think I, or anyone else who commented, have given away anything which could be particularly construed as a spoiler. In fact the very scene I mentioned was also mentioned on Kermode's podcast. Count Fosco is right in that there's very little plot to spoil as it's a far more sensory film (although I would argue there's substance to it.. but that's for another post).

Still, I understand people wanting to go in cold.

Back in the U.K. on Monday and Tuesday and hope to pick up a couple of recent releases if I have time on Monday evening (and perhaps also catch The Bling Ring).
And there's me thinking I'm some kind of softy preferring "Chasing Amy" to "Mallrats"! You're absolutely correct in describing "Chasing Amy" as "sublime". If Kevin Smith never makes another film "Chasing Amy" will stand as a testament to his ability to make a mature, well paced film.

TRIGUN badland rumble.

Not a series as I had thought looking at the running time, which must include extras as its 90 minutes. Absolutely wonderful and stays true to the origional series in spite of a 12 year gap between the two. The animation is fantastic, the story is well written and the humour works. If you liked the origional series you will definately enjoy it, if you havent seen the origional series you will probably still like it. Having seen the origional helps but is not essential.

Law Abiding Citizen

Read someone else describe this as Death Wish meets Saw, which is pretty accurate. I first watched it a few years ago in a heavily edited version on a long haul flight and quickly forgot about it. Unsurprisingly watching the directors cut on a decent telly is a much more rewarding experience. Law Abiding Citizen is a really good movie hampered by it's runtime, judicious editing could've had this down to nearer 90 minutes and improved the pace of the film overall.

Although my favourite Kevin Smith's film is Clerks, I think the best one he has made is Chasing Amy as its more rounded with better developed characters and more mature, yet really funny, dialogue than any of his other films.

Would you be surprised if I said 'No'? Didn't think so!

I'm exactly the same and that's largely how I differentiate between best films and favourite films. However, when there is a film which is truly great which I watch frequently, that's when you know it's very special.
