I watched Snuff last night, truly awful.

I would have turned it off had there not been bare breasts in every other scene.

On the plus side, the picture quality was good, except the carnival stock footage.

I did however believe the snuff footage was real at the end, especially the scene where the girl has her finger lopped off. It just confused me how her finger had grown back in the next shot, even though it was lying a few inches away from her on the bed.

Watched poughkeepsie tapes. ..
Not sure what i thought of it..I heard alsorts of it being violent and a bit graphic etc (not gore tho) i thought it was quite tame to be honest...
A friend who was half watching it with me asked if it was based on a true story which i googled it and said no it a spoof documentry, To which she repied am i sure, Because she read a true story same as the film about a bloke who kidnapped a women and kept her as a sex slave in a box under his bed , and was also a serial killer..She tends to read a lot of true stories and books by horror writters...Can any 1 shed some light on this for me please, Thanks

From Imdb:
Quote:
Several details and behaviors of the serial killer described are borrowed from real life murderers. Elements of several serial killers are present within the behaviors of the killer in this movie, including one killer who actually lived in Poughkeepsie (though very few details are based off of this man)- but this movie is not based on any one true story.
From Wikipedia:
Quote:
The film has some similarities to the crimes of Poughkeepsie serial killer Kendall Francois, who was convicted of 8 murders; but did not film the deaths. However, [Director] John Erick Dowdle has stated that he had never heard of Francois until weeks after the film was completed.

No probs
I havn't seen the film myself, but think I may put it in the pile to watch at some point. Obviously, I just quickly looked at the two most common places for info then. I'll keep searching and if I find out anything a little more in depth, I'll let you know

EDIT: I found a snippet more information in this review, but apart from that, it's all what's already posted above:
While a few characteristics may be based on Poughkeepsie serial killer Kendall Francois and possibly characteristics of other serial killers, the Director claims it is entirely a work of fiction.

Watched Vigilante (1983) last night.
I thought Robert Forster and Fred Williamson were really good,Forster even excellent in this one.
Nice to see Joe Spinell pop up as well btw.
A grim crime film that manages to be thought provoking.

Daemonia and Kyle like this.

Used to have a pre-cert VHS of this. It's a great film and Robert Forster really is superb in it.

It's Alive - I was expecting this to be a lot more trashy but, for a film about a killer newborn, it's actually quite understated and I found the ending quite poignant (or maybe I'm just getting soft ). The other 2 films in the trilogy are in my to-watch pile so looking forward to checking them out too.

Manhunt - now this one isn't quite so understated! Almost deviod of any plot, this is a standard backwoods slasher but such as it is, it does the job just fine. Plus, it's always good to hear David Hess' soothing tones in any soundtrack! Well worth the £1 I paid for it in Poundland
