A brilliant brief analysis of exploitation films there, Make Them Die Slowly. There is a huge difference between mainstream movies and exploitation cinema and different rules almost apply when judging them.

Default Exorcist Anthology

Exorcist Anthology. Sadly not a Blu Ray option but worked my way through all of them. Three is still excellent, even though I haven't seen it in years and was just as creepy as I recalled. Two was still utter drivel, and unpopular as it is, I really like Schrader's Dominion. It is so underated. If anybody knows where you can get the behind the scenes documentary Schrader's Exorcsim I would love to know! Harlin's The Beginning was ok. Held together with good Storaro photography. Looking forrward to a blu ray verion of the anthology but at CEX £6 it was still a good cheap buy.

yeah it's pretty bad but Billy Zane is great fun in it. The idea of tainted beef burgers turning people into zombies is an interesting idea, unfortunately for The Mad is just didn't work.

in other news, i watched the 1984 James Spader film, Tuff Turf, a sort of cross between Class of 1984 and Savage Streets minus the rape. Great soundtrack and a really early Robert Downey Jr appearence. Really enjoyed it. Oh and Kim Richards....yum

Also watched Frank Darabont's The Majestic, really enjoyed this strange homage to classic cinema and mistaken identity film. Brilliantly shot by Darabont with a pretty good straight performance from Jim Carrey..

The second film version of The Cry Of The Owl with both Paddy Considine and Julia Stiles looking very uncomfortable in the leads. There's nothing wrong with the film per se, it's just...pedestrian. It veers towards the boring, but has enough to keep you watching just about. It feels longer than it is. The story is excellent but you can't help but think it works best on the page. Still, it's not absolute crap.

However, I can't stop thinking about The Woman. Film of the year, for sure.
