TCM 2. Weird look at reagonomics via the cannibalistic fast food trade. Better than WALL STREET.

Frankenstein's Army

Set towards the back end of WWII, this film tells the tale of a group of Russian soldiers who discover a secret bunker where a mad doctor (a direct descendant of Dr Frankenstein) is creating some of the most ****ed up monsters I've ever seen in a film, from the bodies of recently dead Nazi's and bits of machinery.
All this is filmed by one of the soldiers on handheld cameras, and I think it breathes life into the already done to death found footage genre, certainly better than this year’s The Bay, which I found boring. I’ve gotta say I thoroughly enjoyed this for what it is, and was extremely surprised by how well the creations looked for such a low budget film; some of them were pretty ingenious.
What’s really scary about this film is the fact that this kind of thing, or certainly very similar, was going on during WWII by such insane lunatics as Josef Mengele and the Japanese “doctors” operating out of Unit 731, and that was in my mind during the film.
Overall, it’s a lot of fun and quite gory in parts and a film I’ll definitely pick up either when the price drops or it gets a UK blu release
8/10

I was thinking much the same thing, Rik! It adds a new dimension to an otherwise throwaway film! Yes, it is a fun film full of gory scenes and funny moments but the knowledge that there was research done along these lines gives you a bit of a shudder in the film's aftermath!

Glad you enjoyed it and even more glad that you could see the underlying darkness there!

I especially liked the doll-like nurse/orderly pottering around in the operating room, she was fun!

Yeah, I think the filmmakers clearly had fun creating the wackiest monsters they could think of, I wouldn't be surprised if I read that they came up with them after a hefty sesh on the Russian water

Two more from the chilling classics 50 movies boxset

Nightmare in wax

Cameron Mitchell gives a fantantstic over the top performance as disfigured artist who takes revenge on those who where responsible. He ends up using a serum to turn them into releastic waxworks. Sadly the police on the case must be complete morons because it takes them awhile to even suspect Cameron who wears a cape and has a eye patch and in his museum has waxworks of the victims . Not bad but the ending is just stupid. 4.5/10

Devil times five

This was a fantastic and disturbing little film. It's your usual escaped psychopath film but with the twist that they are five angel faced children. The said children go on a killing spree when they are pick up by a group of people staying at hotel. The adults are all total unlikeable lot and apart from the character of Ralph deserve everything they get. The children on the other hand are very interesting characters and we even have a big shock/twist with one of them. Some of the deaths are real brutal for the time, especially the death by pirana. I would recommend people seeking out this little gem. 8/10

Now watching what I think is one of the most atmospheric horrors dead and buried.

A while back my wife won a copy of "The Devil Inside" and wanted to watch it tonight. Does anyone know where I can get a refund on the wasted 80 minutes of my life? Absolute charmless, cheap "found footage" format drivel. Not so much "so bad it's good" as "so bad I'm angry and want my time back now!"

I'm so gutted that I've wasted an evening on this effluent that I can't think of a score low enough for it... oh alright then, -80/10.

Vamp

......oh well it was only £4.99...and seeing Grace Jones dressed in twisted television aerials was interesting for a few seconds.
