AAnyway....

The Collection (Marcus Dunstan, 2012)

Must stop watching the Horror Channel!! Torture porn blah blah blah. NOT recommended. Though Bubble (from "The Wire") had an interesting haircut ahem.

I was gonna watch this the other night, I enjoyed the Collector, I'm guessing this isn't as good then?

Well, if you enjoyed the first.....it's just that the mask reminds of the Cambridge Rapist on from The Great Rock & Roll Swindle, so couldn't take it seriously. Plus some of it quite silly imo....

Also revisited Grave Encounters (2011, Vicious Brothers).
See what I mean about the Horror Channel? Any old tat haha. Found some interesting imagery this time. But everything had a green tinge afterwards ahem. Maaaay watch sequel now, but then again.......

I'm sure there's a rule about not deliberately antagonising others, particular moderators!

NEON MANIACS

This film I remember from many years ago, but it passed me by in the viewing stakes.

Creatures live under The Golden Gate Bridge, where are they from? no one knows! Why are they suddenly here? no one knows! What is their endgame? You guessed it...no one knows.....do we care? not really because I thought this film was fantastic. It is definitely so bad it needs to be seen. I will not spoil the very shallow plot because there is not much of one to spoil.

The Neon Maniacs are like Hellraisers Cenobites on a 5p budget which just adds to the appeal.
I personally think the make up is great for a budget flick and for its day.

Not much to add except if you like bad good movies...like I know most on here do and you have not seen this, get it!

Here are some glorious pix of the Neon Maniacs.

I'd buy that for a dollar... maybe - Part III

Don’t Go In The Woods (1981) BOMB
dontgointhewoods.jpg
A group of backpackers (and some other visitors of the forest) make the acquaintance of a hillbilly maniac, resulting in many casualties. Silly music, actors without any acting skills, cheesy dialogues, cheap special effects, unprofessional direction - this film is totally bonkers. Apart from a few nice shots of the woods, this film doesn’t have any merits. Really? Once you accept the fact that you’re watching an early 80s Slasher C movie which has been made with very little money and even less talent, you may find this film as entertaining as I did. Quite a bit of humour (mostly unintentional) and some gory scenes make Don’t Go In The Woods a trashy curiosity.

The Dead Want Women (2012) BOMB
deadwantwomen.jpg
A decadent roaring twenties party comes to an abrupt end when the lady of the house (a silent movie star) slits her own throat. Many years later, two young women want to sell the vacant house but find out it is not as uninhabited as expected. Produced and directed by schlockmeister Charles Band, this direct-to-video Full Moon release has little to offer. Both the title and the taglines promise nudity and horror, but the film lacks both. While I’m able to live without gratuitous nudity, I generally do not like anaemic horror. Apart from a headshot, the violence is pretty mild. What I did like: the movie never pretends to be more than the cheap video film that it is. The acting is way over the top, the makeup is simple, and the dialogues are at least mildly humorous. I bought this film for three quid, and I was not disappointed. A stupid little filler.

Unhinged (1982) * * ½
unhinged.jpg
Whilst on their way to a concert, three teenage girls crash their car. A friendly family (with a dark secret) takes care of them. Like Don’t Go In The Woods, this is a low-budget Horror film from the (in)famous 80s. All characters are played by either unexperienced models or unknown stage actors, and the synthesizer score is definitely an acquired taste. Surprisingly, this is nevertheless a nice little film. The actors’ performances are more than acceptable, director Gronquist makes the most out of the setting (an old mansion), and the dialogues are sensible most of the time. Another asset of the film is that it manages to create an atmosphere of suppression and mischief without explicitely showing very much. The ending packs a punch. Worth watching.

Halloween 5 (1989) * *
halloween5.jpg
After one more year in a coma and another astonishing recovery, ‘Evil Personified’ is back. This time, his aides are telepathy and his niece Jamie (Danielle Harris); his opponent is once more Doctor Loomis (Donald Pleasance). This is the first film of the Halloween franchise where you shake your head in disbelief more than once. The plot becomes rather silly now, and it’s pretty hard to believe this has anything to do with Carpenter’s original Halloween. However, Donald Pleasence and fluffy kittens save the day. Despite a ridiculous safer sex scene: watchable (with reservations).

Halloween: The Curse Of Michael Myers (1995) BOMB
halloween6.jpg
A mysterious druid cult has evil plans involving Michael Myers, his niece Jamie and their newborn daughter. Doctor Loomis (Donald Pleasance) teams up with Tommy Doyle (Paul Rudd) and Kara Strode (Marianne Hagan) in order to stop the sinister plot. One could argue that Pleasence’s sudden death during this film’s shooting is the main reason why this film is all over the place. I for one think, however, that the stupid original story was enough to turn this film into a total mess. Matters are complicated further by the fact that people are either miscast (Rudd), mousy (Hagan), or given ungratefully small roles (Kim Darby, Mitchell Ryan). An extremely disappointing film, and a sad exit for Pleasence. Avoid.

Island of Death was exactly what I was expecting. The Goat ****ing movie. Not quite as shocking as House on the Edge of the Park and not quite as clean cut as Night Train Murders, it still packs a punch and is gonna be nabbed by me when the BD comes out.
