Street Law. 1974.

After being mugged engineer Carlo gets nowhere with the police and decides to take the law into his own hands and with a aide of a young robber they both go for revenge.

I'm pretty sure when this was released Charles Bronson appeared in Death Wish, this one is a bit more realistic and somewhat decent. Franco Nero plays the vigilante who plans out his revenge on his would be kidnappers/ muggers. It does show how far a man can be pushed before he snaps. As much as we like to encourage him to seek justice we also get a feel of sympathy with him and his young new hodlum friend.

The Menu

A bunch of people including Critics, a Foodie amongst others go to an exclusive Restaurant run by Ralph Finnes and his cult like staff. Once there, things start to go all weird.

When I saw the Trailer, I thought that it would either be good or some pretentious Art House nonsense, it was the former, this was so riveting with some great performances plus it was so original as well, which may have inflated my opinion.

Will have to watch again to find out.

Slap Shot

Paul Newman is the Coach of a rubbish Minor League Ice Hockey Team whose fortunes turn when they get a trio of Brothers who are some of the biggest goons around. Great scenes of Ice Hockey but it can get boring in between.

Loved the scene where their biggest rivals bring back some of their biggest goons to play them.

Recommending this mother right here. Decently paced urban thriller as a hapless boob is pitched into a high rise to hell, I should write these for a living really ...

Children of the Corn III: Urban Harvest (1995)

Eli, a refugee from the original corn cult of Gatlin relocates to Chicago with his step brother. Once there Eli intends to resurrect 'He who walks behind the rows' by planting a new crop in the city with corn brought along from Gatlin.

Easily the best of the series, the film incorporates high school drama into the already fairly worn premise which nicely reinvents things. Director James Hickox (son of horror veteran Anthony) knows how to build suspense and generate shocks on a low budget whilst building to an unhinged and bloody final reel in which shit really hits the fan.

This Film has to be in UK rights hell. Surely if the rights were obtainable, someone would have released this one by now.

Vigilante

Another Death Wish clone sees a man who's Wife was attacked and young Son killed by Hoodlums finally had enough after the attackers go free but ends up in Jail himself after being charged with Contempt. He joins a local Vigilante group, who have been taking out the local Criminals. Been wanting to see this one for a while and 88 Films have just released it and it's brisk and quite entertaining.

Sparring Partner

Based on a True Story which sees a man and his friend murder and dismember his Parents. With both of them pleading Not Guilty, the Lawyers and Jurors have to work out what happened. Whilst a little long, it's pretty entertaining, there are some good performances and some nice gore as well.

Hero And The Terror

Chuck Norris is a Police Detective who captured a notorious Serial Killer. However when the Killer returns and starts killing people at a newly reopened Theatre. Less Action than you would normally find in a Chuck Norris Movie but whilst not the best, it's not a bad way to spend your time, if you haven't seen it in ages or not at all.

Robot Holocaust (1987, Tim Kincaid)

Where to start with a film that made Mutant Hunt look thrilling and well paced in comparison
This aside, there is some fun here of miners of this particular vein ... the damage done to the ozone alone by some of the extras .... for all that it is a film that is redolent of its period. A time capsule if you want. A slightly dull one.

Streets Of Blood. 2009.

A detective is teamed with a new partner and investigates his previous partner's death during Hurricane Katrina and uncovers corruption within the police station, while a F.B.I. agent is doing his own investigation.

Aside from having a good star cast with Val Kilmer, Curtis "50 Cent"Jackson, Michael Biehn and Sharon Stone, this film can be confusing. At the start we see the aftermath of Katrina and the looting, then six months later police go after the gangs and drug dealers who are somehow turning on each other. Half way through you can tell who is basically pulling the strings so really not much of a plot twist. The acting is a bit decent but the plot is all over the place.

The Devil Ship Pirates. 1964.

A ship fighting in The Spanish Armada, deserts it's ppsition and heads towards a small village for repairs and the crew begin to slowly terrorize the residents.

Something a bit different from Hammer, a decently made swashbuckling adventure with Christopher Lee as the captain of the ship 'Diablo' that suffered damage and heads towards a small British village with his small crew that is left and end up tormenting those around them and have a decent sword fight towards the end.

This has always been a happy viewing for me, it may not be Christopher Lee or hammer usual Michael Ripper's best performances but they do their best to make it entertaining. The set peices especially the ship itself was greatly built up and designed very well.
