Since disney now own star wars, i'm betting on a re-release of the origional trilogy on blu-ray with the untampered-with versions included. If disney want some kind of quick return on their investment then it seems like an easy way to generate cash from the fans. I've never been a hardcore fan of star wars but i'll probably pick them up if they release them.

I'm more interested in the prospect of more howard the duck since disney also own marvel, and presumably now have the screen rights back.

I have a whole load of laserdisc, including the special edition set of the Star Wars Trilogy which I'm only keeping to sell at some point.

Apparently Fox still retain the rights to the original trilogy.

But not lucas correct?! Without gorgeous george at the helm all were left with either way is a corporate entity retaining creative control over the star wars saga. FRom one perspective this could only be a good thing as all corporations want is money, if untampered star wars is going to make cash then i'm betting it sees a release.

I only remember laser discs from stores only too, never had one in my hands.
I think that if I had the chance to buy some of my favorite movies I would, for the cover alone.

Yeah, you actually get some people who frame old laserdisc covers. They look good.

True, it depends if he still wants them out there I guess. The mere fact that he's 'letting go' of Star Wars into the hands of younger directors does bode well for him allowing for the untouched original trilogy to get released

A few more laserdiscs, including the Star Wars films (original versions).
