Default Paths of Glory (1957)

Paths of Glory (1957)

Corporal Paris: See that cockroach? Tomorrow morning, we'll be dead and it'll be alive. It'll have more contact with my wife and child than I will. I'll be nothing, and it'll be alive.

[Ferol smashes the roach]

Private Ferol: Now you got the edge on him.

That's brilliant. It's probably better without the second punch line as it makes clear the horrors of war where Ferol's line makes you laugh.

The ending of the movie turns this scene completely on its head!

Seeing as you're heavily into British films i'd have thought you'd have seen Brighton Rock Dem, it really is a classic.
A definite recommendation from me.
I actually thought the remake was pretty good too.
