I would have to say my all time top five werewolf movies are

An American Werewolf in London
The Howling
The Wolfman (1941)
Silver Bullet
Dog Soldiers

although there are many other great werewolf movies i have

Curse of the Werewolf
The Beast Must Die
well the list is endless, but there are loads.

An age-old question, and one that I can't answer. I think both movies are well-made and entertaining Horror flicks.

Greetings!

I see it as more like Rick Baker vs Rob Bottin, personally I've always preferred Baker's transformation FX

American Werewolf. The Howling has lost some of it's appeal over the years for me. It has a bit of that 'stuck in the 80's vibe. AWIL is a classic.

AWIL. The dream/nightmare sequences and the scenes of the victims/living dead put it in a league of it's own.

THE HOWLING was good
but for me AN AMERICAN WEREWOLF IN LONDON is the best werewolf film ever
