It's certainly not your typical exploitation vampire film, with it's chilling black and white cinematography and strange structure. Basically split into two films, the first half is his original short (from what I've read anyway). The rest is what was added on to make it full length and that part is so weird.

Loved the whole idea of whether the 'vampires' are really blood-sucking undeads or if it's just a mental illness. A very original film - one worth checking out if you come across it and like arty erotic horrors.

Awesome poster art too

Even more so that Uncle Jess' more deranged outings, Rollin's work does sometimes remind me of when I took drugs haha ahem.

I cannot express how much The Neon Demon reminds me of the man's work.

Thought I would introduce my mate to JR, so whilst Two Orphan Vampires might not be top notch Rollin, it looked decent enough.
His take? "Too much walking about!!"

Lips Of Blood (1975)

Frederick sees a photograph during a party which stirs an unhappy childhood memory.
Slightly saner than some of his work (and with a male protagonist to boot) this is still JR country. Castles and nudity etc . Plus the lead reminds me of Duggan from City Of Death . Ahem.
Of all directors I find him the hardest to 'explain'. You have to be there.

Certainly different. Especially the coffin floating out to sea.

Rollin's films usually are bonkers.
People laugh at Zombie Lake-it's one of his few with a 'straight-forward' story!
