 Filmmaker Sini Anderson explores the life and career of punk rocker Kathleen Hanna, the Bikini Kill frontwoman who became a pioneer of the "riot grrrl" movement of the 1990s. I watched this one recently with a friend, neither of us were particularly educated about Bikini Kill however we had heard a couple of Le Tigre songs, we both thoroughly enjoyed the film, it was very personal and insightful about someone who wasn't after fame but ended up becoming the face of a generation of feminist punks! It discusses a mysterious illness that Kathleen suffered from a few years ago which prevented her from performing and having to lie to her band members about her motives to split up. There are lots of 'talking heads' bits from big players in the American alt. scene, the majority of which are women apart from Kathleen's husband Adam Horovitz of the Beastie Boys, there is an amusing segment about how they became friends, considering that early Beastie Boys material is as far away from Feminism as you can get.

So after watching Exists, Kiss Me Quick, episode 3 of the Doctor Who story Greatest Show in the Galaxy and Ghost Stories for Christmas with Christopher Lee - Number 13. I decided to just watch a couple of songs on the Emperor Live at Wacken dvd. It was so good i ended up watching the whole thing and going to bed at 5.35am.  Justin101 likes this. |

Seeing as it was Rob Zombie's birthday yesterday, I watched this when I got home from work last night, great show just not long enough at only 81 minutes  Justin101 and anythinggoes78 like this.
