Got to be honest, Dave. I think it's a bit of a gem. I actually don't think there's a weak track on it. Como Estais Amigos and The Clansmen are two songs the critics would be falling over themselves to praise had they been on the recent Dickinson albums. If there's one problem it's that Steve Harris is too dominant in the writing and production.

Yeah, I don't give this (or The X Factor) enough listens, the songs were suited for Blaze's limited (compared to Bruce) vocal range, but he just couldn't cut it singing the classics live

He'd be alright now then. He'd only have to sing three of them.

On a serious note though. I saw them tour The X Factor at Manchester Apollo (As you can see, the rot as mentioned in that excellent interview had obviously set in as they'd played arenas up to then) and they were very good. Because Bruce clearly wasn't in to the whole thing for a while before he left Blaze seemed a breath of fresh air at first.

I'd love to hear the band give Man on the Edge an airing on the current tour.

We were up on the balcony at the back. Thought My Dying Bride provided fantastic support.

I'm afraid I was fanboying it at Steve's feet haha. I'd completely forgotten about MDB supporting them, Iron Maiden were always champions of up-and-comers. I remember them having Dream Theater on an American tour and I was really jealous.

Bought PJ Harvey's latest, 'The Hope Six Demolition Project'. Typically excellent.
