The original album is much better than the soundtrack, in my opinion The soundtrack only contains ten of the seventeen tracks from the original 'Quadrophenia', although not all of the songs were used in the film. The 1979 album also contains a number of different mixes to the 1973 one. The most notable of these is "The Real Me" (used for the title sequence of the film) which features a different bass track, more prominent vocals and a more definite ending. Most of the tracks are also edited to be slightly shorter. The soundtrack also includes three tracks by The Who that did not appear on the 1973 album - "Four Faces, "Get Out and Stay Out" and "Joker James." The latter two songs marked Kenney Jones's first on-record appearance with the Who after taking over on drums for the late Keith Moon. However, when the soundtrack CD was re-released in 2000, it had been expanded to include a collection of soul classics in addition to the Who songs: "Night Train" (James Brown) "Louie Louie" (The Kingsmen) "Green Onions" (Booker T. & the M.G.'s) "Rhythm of the Rain" (The Cascades) "He's So Fine" (The Chiffons) "Be My Baby" (The Ronettes) "Da Doo Ron Ron" (The Crystals)
