Swans - To Be Kind.

After just one full listen to this 2hr album, already it seems a contender for release of the year. As with the majority of their material one listen isn't enough to truly develop a relationship with the music, because that's often what it feels like - a relationship - with music of this nature.

Many of the songs are built upon a slow almost trance like rhythm that gets deep inside your mind as they progress building into different beasts altogether by the climax. As the shortest of these songs is 5.09 and the longest 34.07 it's not a speedy process.

Even after just one play through, the track Just a Little Boy still burns in my brain. It's simple structure brutally assaulted by the devil like cries of "I'm just a little boy, I'm not human" and "I need love" as if it's the soundtrack to your worst demonic possession movie nightmare.

However the real reason i know this should be a great album - I can't wait to listen to it again in full tomorrow.

Right now I'm listening to Cardiacs - Heaven Born And Ever Bright. I'm pretty new to this band, a friend of mine loves them so I had to check them out. Very good so far.
