Lads, it's great to be among such knowledgeble folks into great music... I'm gonna break with the experimental stuff for this one... one of my favourite David Bowie songs - The Subterraneans, the final track on Low and said to be the only remaining fragment of Bowie's aborted soundtrack for The Man Who Fell To Earth...

PaulD and Phurious like this.

Good call Wes. Love this whole album and that track is indeed a blinder (especially the sax).

A New Career In A New Town has always been my fave on Low.

Oh great song... I love the way the songs on Side 1 of Low have that half-finished feel, like strange abandoned experiments... Gary Numan owes a career to that album...

Indeed they sort of resemble snippets of a whole piece that's always going to be out of reach.
I suppose they were experiments of sorts. In that one of the biggest selling rock/pop stars was adopting/adapting to the new sounds that he'd become immersed in whilst in Berlin. Ditto Eno who had really absorbed the whole Conny Plank/Moebius and Cluster side of music.

As for Numan, well he ain't my bag really.

Well said... Phurious did you read the Bowie in Berlin book ? It's actually quite a good read - even though this era of Bowie's career is well documented there's a lot of good stuff in there...

Picked it up this afternoon, very prog indeed, which is no bad thing.

Presently listening to Big Black: "Pigpile"

REM have called it a day.

Not good news.

Saw them at Huddersfield on the Monster tour and they were fantastic.

I heard about that yesterday. To be honest I thought they'd quite years ago. They've never really done it for me, but going off Twitter they were really popular.
