Although i still like them a lot i don't love them like i did around the period of Somewhere in Time - Fear of the Dark. The songs in general don't grab me as much nor do they seem as exciting.

This might seem odd but it might also be to do with lack of singles and collectible releases. Nowadays we are left to make up our own minds about the songs produced, rather than have certain songs thrust on us via picture discs, poster packs and such like.
There are always stand-out tracks on albums though which could be perceived as singles such as "These Colours Don't Run" and "For the Greater Good of God" from A Matter of Life or Death and "El Dorado" off The Final Frontier. I understand what you mean though, bands these days aren't 'Album Bands' any more but Iron Maiden most definitely are!

I know what you mean, the last vinyls I bought were the singles from the Real Live/Dead albums 24 years ago. Everything released after I have on CD, but albums only.
The majority of my vinyl collection is 80's Maiden and the last time I valued it (from Record Collector and other specialist sources) I estimated it at around £2500

I actually miss the thrill of discovering wanted items at record fairs up and down the country in the early 90's, much like other members have fond memories of tape trading at film fairs in the 80's

But a standout track for me might not be for you. Take Wrathchild for example.

It's only perhaps when we see a setlist do we find out what probably would have been that albums singles or stand out songs.

Can't find the discussion me and Dem had about the new Maiden tour poster/t-shirt, but here's the bike I was talking about that Eddie is riding

This is why I won't see them play Hallowed Be Thy Name tonight, they won't be allowed to!

http://www.metaltalk.net/news_sevent..._thy_claim.php

If you listen to the track embedded in the article, it's blatantly obvious that Steve Harris pinched some of the lyrics, and the end is (without actually checking it out on guitar) practically the same as the instrumental section of The Nomad from Brave New World!
Shame on you Mr Murray!

It's 'Hallowed Be Thy Claim' For Iron Maiden As High Court Case Is Now In Motion

Interesting

I am not familiar with 'The Nomad', so I cannot comment on that, but when it comes to the lyrics of 'Hallowed Be Thy Name', they speak for themselves

Mind you, surely ALL rock music is plagiarized from what has come before

All music is is 12 notes, 26 letters and rhythm, stuff is bound to sound the same occasionally but that ending is identical

I wonder if Brian Quinn actually knows a number of Maiden fans myself included thinks Hallowed Be Thy Name sucks and it had f**k all to do with them being mega popular.

As for Steve Harris? What was he thinking?
