Reading the examples of other violence from different films in this thread gives me hope this should be uncut, seeing as how there's been infinitely more offensive material produced on film, along with how we arguably live in a very desensitized world nowadays.

The MPAA doesn't take kindly to comparisons in appeals - does the BBFC accept stuff like that? If so, maybe that gives you a chance with them.

I doubt the BBFC take too kindly to comparisons either. If Shameless do decide to go down that route when submitting, they would need to find a recently passed instance of sexualised violence... not just nipple violence!

Seriously though, as Arrow have demonstrated with Inferno, the BBFC can be open to sensible appeals so if there is a similar instance of sexualised violence that has been passed then it could be useful to know about it if they do demand cuts - although I wouldn't contact the BBFC until a decision has been made.

My one ray of hope is that they have passed Last House on the Left uncut now (since Shameless last submitted NYR) which obviously features a lot of sexual violence but I'm not sure if the two compare.

Things could change, of course, but as far as I understand it they are.

its weird but for years theres something about this film which makes me not want to watch it. Call it fear maybe!

Other than its notoriety, is it actually any good? ZFE is quality, The Beyond is in my all time top ten and Freudstein is an instant classic horror villian.

It might actually be my favourite Fulci (of those that I've seen up to now).

Although I already own the Shameless DVD and the Blue Underground BD, I will buy this if it is uncut purely for the extra features and the artwork. I think there are grounds for optimism when the BBFC are concerned as they have passed something like Antichrist and Last House on the Left uncut and there is violence, some sexualised, in those films that is way worse than in New York Ripper.
