I ordered early because I thought it would sell out – it seems that isn't the case.

I haven't seen the films, but if i recall correctly one of them isn't up to much according to a lot of estimations, so perhaps people just purchased the ones they liked rather than the full set.

That would be my theory.

Hallelujah!!! Got a reply from 88 Films!!! Told them to cancel Anthropophagus.
P.S. Seems like Bloodstained Shadow has a lot of problems, someone ranks the picture 2.5/5 on blu-ray.com forums.

They also released a much cheaper non-limited set at the same time.

I think if they maybe staggered the releases (releasing the non-limited set in a few months time and then the single releases after that) they may have been able to shift more of the limited units and not had what appears to be a surplus of stock on their hands.

Still, I feel sorry for all the folks who pre-ordered/purchased the limited set at the full price. I'm not sure why 88 seem to be in a rush to shift the remaining units... surely they could just hold onto the inventory stock to sell through over time or even ship them out to Amazon etc. to sell.

That's the main thing puzzling me, because they were only officially released a month ago. It's a very short turnaround from release date to sale price.

From what i can remember is that is one of the tricks they employed to sell thier exclusive version. Someone must have told Amazon the regular set wouldnt release until october time.

Glad you were able to get it finally sorted.

Yeah I saw that.

Someone else had posted some screen-grabs which don't look too bad to me though:

Source.

Still, it's hard to tell either way until you see it in motion on your own set-up I suppose. Mine is on its way from Amazon so will see what I make of it when it arrives. From memory, the Blue Underground DVD was hardly fantastic in terms of PQ.

I watched it once and thought it looked good, but I wasn't scrutinising the picture or sound at the time, just enjoying the film. There was nothing about the picture quality which stood out as terrible or in any way worse than I was expecting.

I'll probably watch it again this week (with the Italian track) and pay much more attention to the AV quality.

Yeah, the first phase of my ordeal with 88 Films is over, now I guess I'll have to wait for another week for my order to be cancelled
Yeah, they don't look very bad, quite acceptable. My copy is on the way to me from Amazon too. But wait till you see the screens of A Blade in the Dark

I've just seen those... they look really washed out to me. Hopefully they're not the final shots (or at least are down-res like the ZH ones were).
