To my ( untrained ) eye I thought the pq on Brides was pin sharp, but I thought the colours were a bit muted.

I agree no one has topped Quatermass And The Pit yet Hammer - wise.

Synapse's Hammer releases have all been excellent PQ wise too, as you would expect. Vampire Circus is especially good.

Let's hope the Blu-ray of 'Monster from Hell' is a fully restored version wih all the gore intact. If not, I'll be content to hang onto the German DVD.

after playing 'Guess the film' with the guys here i finally run into some Hammer titles, i haven't seen many but do enjoy the ones i have seen. my Fiancee bought me the Hammer Collection box set but i am yet to watch many of the titles with the exception of 'The Nanny' which is great and creepy. (The three i have seen i marked in red)

'Blood From the Mummy's Tomb'
'Demons of the Mind'
'The Devil Rides Out'
'Viking Queen'
'Dracula, Prince of Darkness'
'Fear in the Night'
'Frankenstein Created Woman'
'The Horror of Frankenstein'
'The Nanny'
'One Million Years BC'
'Plague of the Zombies'
'Quatermass and the Pit'
'Rasputin, the Mad Monk'
'The Reptile'
'The Scars of Dracula'
'She'
'Slave Girls'
'To the Devil a Daughter'
'The Vengeance of She'
'The Witches'

Can a fan help pick out the best viewing order of these films for me? I'm not aware of the storylines to most Hammer films and i would like to watch the best before hitting some of the titles i hear folks saying are a little dull. Any other films that are a must watch would also be great to hear about so i can Feebay them for a Hammer Horror weekend.

As a basic guide, I would recommend watching the horror films in date order

As for the others, well 'One Millions Years BC' is a classic, but the others are forgettable!

I agree with Suzy – watch the horror films in chronological order and the others whenever you feel like it, or when the running time fits with your schedule!

If it was me i'd save the ones with what sound like the best synopsis for last and watch the least interesting first. That way the quality should improve with each viewing.

By the time you get to the magnificent The Devil Rides Out you will be in Hammer heaven.
