Would you like some lens flare with your nostalgia? This looks magnificent in 4k by the way!

Your excellent review has made me realise a repeated viewing is long overdue, so I'll probably rectify that later this week.

The Cosmic Man. 1959. I watched this last year and returned to it this afternoon, Earth has a visitor, lead doctor want to see if the alien is friendly, military guys want to capture and exploit it and in the middle is a young boy who wants to play chess with it. The debate between scientist Bruce Bennett and military man Paul Langton as to what to do with this alien invader takes up a lot of the film but it can be interesting to watch how both parties have different theories. John Carradine is the Cosmic Man taking residnecy with Angela Greene and her ill son Scotty Morrow whonseems to read alot on physics. It may not be for everyone, no big special effects or dark tone atmosphere but certainly worth a look. the-cosmic-man-movie-poster-md.jpg

The Iron Giant. 1999. Feel good family entertainment about a 9 year old befriending a giant robot and having to hide him away from the authorities while a government agent is lodging at his house. What starts off and a meteorite crashing and intro to some of the characters that basically become a laugh out loud moments. The film's plot is similar to 'E.T.' - a young boy meets an alien from outer space, who is stranded on earth, and runs afoul of paranoid government agents. A young boy is the teacher and It is he who has to teach the Giant about the beauty of life, the difference between good and evil, and choices we have to make. The Iron Giant, turns out, is a weapon, who has to struggle against his own nature is what makes it decent children's and adult movie with a great show case of creative computer design of the robot. p23609_p_v10_ag.jpg
