So did I, same with all the McCoy era. Doesn't half make me feel old that it's 30 years since season 24...

November 13th, 1999

Although it had been off the air since 1996, BBC2 dedicated an entire evening to 'Doctor Who'. Hosted by Tom Baker, the night of Who-related programmes included:
  • The Pitch of Fear (a comedy sketch of the origins of Doctor Who starring Mark Gatiss and David Walliams) [This can be found as an extra feature on the DVD release of 'An Unearthly Child' which is available in the 'Doctor Who: The Beginning' DVD box set]
  • Adventures in Space and Time (Not the docu-drama about the creation of the show that was shown for the 50th anniversary, this was a 40 minute documentary looking at the history of Doctor Who from 'An Unearthly Child' to the 1996 TV movie) [Currently unavailable]
  • Who Wants to Live Forever (Professor Tom Kirkwood looking at the possibility of regeneration) [Currently unavailable]
  • Carnival of Monsters (Not a story featuring the third Doctor, but a look at the various monsters that have appeared in the show) [Currently unavailable]
  • The Web of Caves (comedy sketch starring Mark Gatiss and David Walliams) [This can be found as an extra feature on the DVD release of 'An Unearthly Child' which is available in the 'Doctor Who: The Beginning' DVD box set]
  • How to Build a TARDIS (Dr Jim Al-Khalili talks about the possibility of a TARDIS) [Currently unavailable]
  • The Rescue (The final episode of the first Dalek story) ['The Daleks' is available as part of the 'Doctor Who: The Beginning DVD box set]
  • The Kidnappers (comedy sketch starring Mark Gatiss and David Walliams with a special appearance by Peter Davison) [This can be found as an extra feature on the DVD release of 'An Unearthly Child']
  • The TV Movie (introduced by Paul McGann, this was the first time screening of the uncut version of the 1996 feature-length adventure)

They are animals of some kind

After the battle of Canary Wharf, as seen in 'Army of Ghosts'/'Doomsday', the Cybermen needed to increase their numbers, so they start to convert animals such as cats and dogs into Cybershades

Presumably, because Cybermats are purely robotic, without any organic material, they would have just been drones instead of the Cyber collective

A colourised picture from 'The Krotons'

I have no idea how correct the colours are, and Zoe's outfit is gorgeous, but what Jamie is wearing is a bit more...um...!
