Watched Rogue One at the weekened and was appalled at......

SPOILER ALERT DO NOT READ BELOW IF YOU HAVE NOT SEEN THIS FILM.

The awful CGIing (is that a word?) of shoehorning in Peter Cushing (awful impression of his voice as well ) and a young Carrie Fisher into the storyline for A New Hope.

Apart from those awfult bits I quite enjoyed the film.

Not sure what to make of this one. The young Carrie Fisher was uneccassery. We could have simply seen her from behind, the iconic hair would have told us everything. And there is a nice moment when we see Cushings character reflected in the glass. That worked brilliantly and was all that was needed. Would have been respectful and poignant and rather special. Then they fluffed it up by showing us a full on cgi performance.
Particularly ironic given the director, Gareth Evans made a right pigs ear of his Godzilla film by refraining from actually showing us bloody Godzilla.

I bet a lot of people thought the showings of Cushing and Fisher (as Fisher was a very brief showing) were real.

Glimpses would have been enough for me

or for modern audiences they could have found some outtakes they could have used and inserted them instead.

Got in at 03:40 this morning after THE LAST JEDI.

I had goosebumps when the opening crawl went up.
There were some moments for me that did not work and some of the humour was unnecessary but overall I loved it!

still have doubts BUT most of the reviews are praising it saying its better than force awakens and fixed most of the problems from that and seems to be up their with empire.

Don't you think they always say that?

I do.

It's when the dust settles that everyone (critics) say 'actually it's not as good as Attack of the Clones'.

There are similarities between LAST JEDI and EMPIRE. The story becomes very bleak.

LAST JEDI up there with EMPIRE? Not for me.

Pleased you liked it Dave. Gives me hope. Not a new hope, but hope.
