It's another great season with so many smart jokes and references, some of which I only understood in the last decade.

Quote:
Everyone knows the story of Principal Seymour Skinner; he's a bit of a push-over, he's a Vietnam vet, and he's a pretty lousy principal. As it turns out, Seymour Skinner is actually the Simpsons' equivalent of Jean Valjean from Les Miserables.

The seeds are planted in the episode 'Homer's Barbershop Quartet' when Skinner finds his old POW helmet and it is revealed that his prisoner number is 24601. As it so happens, Skinner's prisoner's number is the same as Jean Valjean's prisoner number but the payoff of the joke comes during a later episode, 'The Principal and the Pauper'.

Skinner's true identity is revealed in that episode: he was in fact a former lowlife who stole the real Seymour Skinner's identity before working his way up to a respectable position in society. Skinner's identity-stealing backstory is very similar to Jean Valjean's story; Valjean was a criminal who took on a new identity and became a wealthy person of considerable influence before eventually dying after reuniting with his long-lost daughter.

Okay, so Skinner isn't dead and he doesn't have a long-lost daughter. Maybe everyone's favourite whimsical principal still has some elements of his backstory that's yet to be told?

There was a brilliant GIf of Chelsea's managerial roundabout created from that Grandpa Simpson scene where he walks in and puts his hat down.

For whatever reason when i tried to post it just for fun it came up as dozens of lines of text.

Yes, that's the one. Without knowledge of how frequent Chelsea and Roman Abramovich (sat where Bart was) used to chop and change their managers it's probably not that funny, but it always tickles me.

This season starts just after JR shooting, we eventually find out whom shot him but on the way many suspects with Cliff and Sue Ellen top on the list but it's Sue Ellens own sister who shot him, too get out of prison she says she is pregnant with his baby, but is she. We find out Jock has another son who just happens too be Ray Crabbes ! This leads to tension between Miss Ellie and Jock which nearly ends up in divorce. Bobby become head of Ewing oil but quits after he starts becoming more like JR. Lucy finds love and gets married , Pam finds her long lost mother, Ray gets married . Bobby runs for congress and wins and JR over throws a small country would could led too the end of Ewing oil but once again JR turns the tables , the man could fall in a river of shit and would come out smelling of roses! We end with Cliff find a body in the pool which could well be Pam and looks like it was JR that killed her!

Once again another piece of enjoyable OTT escapism.

Been revisiting the Australian series Danger 5, 2 series' worth of hi jinks and hilarity ensued.

Set in a very different time than here, our questing quintet have but one job .... Kill Hitler
How they go about this is where the gold is ....
Spoofing WWII flicks, 60s serials, Toho ETC, this is still a treat to behold.
Recommended.

This season had it's moments of laughter but not really side splitting in some episodes, My favourite is the one with The Curfew and the kids see a parody of Village of The Damned called The Bloodening and the kids put on the English accents. The Japanese game show I think is a parody of Takeshi's Castle and Fear Factor, and do a parody of Titanic and King Kong except it's done with Nessie, but going through my collection of The Simpsons I only have upto 14, thought I had More than that.
