Good stuff! Do you think if my partner (same address) registers with her card she could use the WELCOME code too?

Nosferatu@Cult Labs 20th February 2011 04:56 PM

Probably, as long as she uses a different e-mail address to the one that you registered with.

Saw that Chocolate is £6.99 at Amazon so I thought I'd have a quick search of Cine Asia and there's a few at the same price. Just when I try to stop spending for a week or so..

Amazon.co.uk: cine asia - DVD & Blu-ray

I'd like to see Confucius and Mulan but won't buy the U.K. ruined by the BBFC versions.

oaxaca 22nd February 2011 01:35 PM

A real bargain!!

Sainsbury's Entertainments deal of the week...

https://www.sainsburysentertainment....duct=E10366650

DIRTY HARRY BOX SET = £13.99

I've just ordered mine. Although this may mean my buying VAMP has to go on the backburner for a while:(.

Nosferatu@Cult Labs 22nd February 2011 01:54 PM

A superb bargain: five films for under £14! Ordered, registered and bought.

Thanks for the spot!

the blob 22nd February 2011 05:44 PM

I thought mine was cheap when I bought it for £15.99!

Amazon.co.uk: cine asia - DVD & Blu-ray

Nice spot.

Saw the trailer on Ip Man, which is well worth a look, too.

I bought this from Blockbuster.co.uk a couple of weeks back fror £6.83, but they sent me the DVD. I returned it, but didn't trust them to order it from them again.

the blob 22nd February 2011 06:28 PM

Ip Man is an amazing film. Saw it on Netflix streaming a while back. Supposedly the HK blu has a much better transfer though so I've held off for a bit as it's not cheap and I've already seen it.

Just checked my debit card statement and it appears that Priceminister has only debited £1.44, so it would appear that the WELCOME code works fine on orders under £10. Lady Vengeance for only £1.44 :woot: !!

That Dirty Harry box set is indeed a bargain, but I'm saving for the US Ultimate box set (£65 from CD Wow), so may give this one a miss for now.

Cheers B!

I'm hoping these prices stick around for another week or so as I'd like The Bed Sitting Room and Man Of Violence off that list.

Anyone had problems playing Piranha 2010 on Blu? I get through tthe trailers and then black screen and player freezes! Disk 2 is fine (the anaglyph).

I update my firmware for Avatar so surely not another one! Maybe a faulty disk

My player is the Sharp BD-HP22

Any help anyone?

:mmph:

It played perfectly fine on my PS3 -- disc one that is as I haven't tried the anaglyph second disc -- so maybe it's to do with the disc and not your player. Do you know anyone else with a Blu-ray player or do you have one in your complete that you can try it on just to double check?

Sargento 26th February 2011 01:07 PM

Just running a firmware update Nos .. found one that came out at the end of November .... everything crossed

bdc 26th February 2011 01:13 PM

Otherwise try inserting a usb stick, some bd's need the added memory it seems, don't know if that will help though. ;)

Sargento 26th February 2011 01:13 PM

That worked Nos! Thanks all the same matey!

Must have been an update for the 3D/2D disks.

Phew .. can breath now

Nosferatu@Cult Labs 26th February 2011 01:25 PM

That's good to hear. I don't run firmware updates as often as I should and I've yet to come across a BD that won't play because the firmware is out of date. Because that disc has 3-D content, the player probably took one look at it and said "I don't know what to do with this, please tell me'!

Sargento 26th February 2011 01:32 PM

You are right Nos, these older machines dunno what to do with modern disks! Its like givin your mum a Blackberry phone!!

I think you wouldnt get a problem with the PS3 as when you get an update on the machine it is always quite a big one! Sony know they have to be forward thinking or they will get left behind in a very competitive market .. not just blues bit games too.

Had a little look on there today and found that they also have a few Arrow Blu-Rays going cheap, DawnOTD, DayOTD, and COTLD for only £9.99 each.

I ended picking up a few. Still had a 10% coupon left too. Watch pile is going to be enormous by the time I'm set up again.

It's not great, but it is better than DVD.......just.

For a fiver it might just about be worth it. Haven't bought Hard Boiled as it's supposed to be the same, but if I spot it for a fiver, I'll probably pick it up.

Great price! Some of the scenes in the film are really hard-core, especially those when people are winched up to the ceiling by hooks through their skin!

I love the Coffin Joe films - I picked the ABUK box set up on release, plus have the DVD of Embodiment. I'll have to retire that now with the impending arrival of the Blu-Ray.

thanks for pointing that out. I've just ordered it, despite the reviews. For 4.24 (as it is now) I'll take a chance.:)

Ya know Drees, it pisses me off when I make comments similar to yours and people (normally blu snobs) challenge me to find movies that don't look any better than upscaled DVD on blu. Not necessarilly on this forum though guys, but I have stated that some blu back catalogue titles I have seen have been a complete waste of time and money -NO better than DVD upscaled - thus in effect ripping us off cos it's got a shiny "blu" on the case!

They try to make you sound stupid, but my eyes don't bloody lie!

Ooh, just read that back to myself ... sorry, I must be tired!!
