Nothing I know of I'm afraid. Despite its horror cult classic status, NOTLD is a public domain film so a lot of the time companies just don't want to spend the time and money on it.

To me it's one of those films that's supposed to look grungey.

I honestly wouldn't want a pristine print of it. A decent one with good sound yes.

You never see folk in films watching it on 75" plasma's. It's always dingy little tv's which make it seem much more atmospheric.

Bit daft when other public domain films get special editions eg the excellent treatment from Eureka on Nosferatu etc

Even though Night is my least favourite of Romero's original trilogy, I'd love an extras filled edition in HD

Indeed, although you'd be suprised at the amount of people wanting to watch it on their 105" screens...

I think the sheer amount of cheap to buy HD releases of it worldwide has hurt the chances of it getting the 'deluxe' treatment. The amount of people who would pick it up are in the very small minority.

Plus, as far as I am aware it's the extras that would cost the money to license, and distributors would probably end up making a loss.

Some nice packaging and artwork full of extras would be great. I agree some films getting cleaned up too much would ruin the atmosphere of the film but a little bit of love would be nice.

I think the Japanese 40th Anniversary Happynet edition is the way to go, PQ is very good although the image is very slightly cropped. It comes in a Black amray which looks very nice also included is an 87-minute documentary (Into The Fire), the theatrical trailer (in HD, though very messy) and an audio interview with Duane Jones. It's all presented in English with Japanese subtitles that can be disabled.

Here are the comparisons of all the official releases:
