He's becoming the new Roger Corman - putting his name to any project, and then sitting back and rolling in the profits!

If indeed they make any profits. I doubt Zombie's Halloween 2 did.

Oh it did just about. $39m on a $15m budget.

I think i read somewhere that his eyes aren't as good as they used to be, which is why he's focusing on the music at the moment.

Pity as i think he's only 69.

Scorsese is 76 and Eastwood 86, so Carpenter by rights should still have a few films in him.

I read an interview somewhere where he said making films is hard work and he's just too old for all that now. Maybe he had health issues no one is aware off. He does look old as the hills.

Petition to Cast Robert Englund as Dr. Loomis in the next Halloween - PopHorror

Good idea or not?

I presume if there is going to be another Halloween at some point then it would be heading to cinemas. So personally i think they should try and get a bigger 'name', budget depending of course. Geoffrey Rush or Stanley Tucci would be great choices in my opinion.

If it's a direct to dvd bargain bin affair then yeah, why not Englund.

I think a name would be better, too. Thought Malcolm McDowell's sleazy take on it was great, that said, and he's not really up there any more. But just in terms of differentiating it from RZ's Halloweens (which I really like!), I don't see the point in going for a sort of down and dirty movie which looks rough (and awesome). A big, slick Hollywood type affair full of non-cult type actors would be the way to go, I think.

Just to add to the list, I'd love to see Martin Freeman's take on it, just to have it go in a different, more human direction. Ooh, Sam Neill would be good. Tip of the hat to his character in In The Mouth of Madness, being on the other side of the straightjacket, and he has that kind of warmth and compassion that might make the character a little different. DP had that a little - especially in the scene where he's scaring the kids away (love that scene) - though he was given very, very dramatic lines to fight with.

Not sure if this is genuine or not, but according to 'director John Carpenter' on FB, Jamie Lee is is returning to "her iconic role as Laurie Strode in HALLOWEEN, released by Universal Pictures on October 19, 2018"
