Y' know when y're gettin' owld cuz y' wanna start tellin' folk 'bout "the good owld days", "eeh, when I were a lad/lass", 'n' "thi don't make 'em like they useta!" I'd like t' say that mine's gunna be different but all that stuff'll creep in, it all'us does.
So, let's start wi' a potted biography.
As y' can prob'ly tell from t' accent I'm not a native of Pompey but an ex-pat from t' Socialist Republic o' South Yorkshire, Sheffield in fact, north-east Sheffield t' be a little more specific, yeah that's it, Shiregreen, right be Concorde Park's gates, if y're passin' gie me mam a wave.
I ended up dahn south when Miserly Maggie shut all t' steel works 'n' pits, forcin' us t' lose ahr manufacturin' base an t' rely on fuel produced bi other countries. After applyin' f' every job in Sheffield (along wi' every other poor sod that Maggie left destitute) I joined Her Majesty's Royal Navy as a Marine Engineering Mechanic (MEM) 'L' eLectrical, I know t' RN can't spell). Long story short, met Pearl, got married, had kids, stayed in Hampshire pinin' f' t' River Don. Ah'll elaborate on that bit next time but f' nah it's breakfast time 'n' me belly thinks it's throat's cut!
Tarrah 'til later.
