But, as John Waters argues, not only did that chicken get to be famous, it was also lunch for members of the cast and crew! He argues that it would have been eaten anyway, so why not make it famous beforehand?

Very true Vince, that chicken scene was purely set up for the camera and was not a 'quick kill'. Pretty tasteless IMHO. Chickens never fared well even in Hollywood films as many a car chase in 70's cop films usually had cars hit a pile of creates with chickens in them in some form or other . What way would you like to see the Animals act restructured Vince. ? |

It's not that much more free as you still get charged by customs if they pick up anything with a value of over £18, charge a handling fee plus VAT of all the amount over £18. If the government really wanted to allow people to import more, they would double the limit, or just raise it to about £30. That would be fantastic for DVD and Blu-ray addicts.

Sorry, I ment you've a far less chance of getting films confiscated at Customs than you had back in the 90's, especially when importing into certain areas of Belfast were piarcy is rife.

Are the BBFC the only Board in Europe who cut films for an 18 plus audience .?

There probably are a number of European Countries that do cut 18 films but unfortunately information about cut details simply isn't forthcoming. Unlike the BBFC who provide details on their website about cuts, most of these countries don't do that, which is a shame as I would like to know more about cuts made worldwide. Certainly there are countries like Norway who are known to ban many films - countries that reject usually cut as well. Spain quite recently made the extraordinary decision to reject Saw 6 for the 18, rating it X instead, which very few cinemas will show. So if the distributor wanted an 18 it would have meant cuts. |

Switzerland doesn't cut movies BUT they're doing their best in becming even stricter than Germany as far as the home entertainment market is concerned, since over there the possession of a banned movie is a punishable crime whereas in Germany it's "just" the selling/renting that gets illegal after a ban. Norway is usually taking example of the BBFC's decisions to reject/cut a movie, hence their banning of the "Another World" DVDs of "Murder Set Pieces" and "Ichi, the Killer". |

Sorry, I wasn't poking fun at you - I was just amused at the thought of a Corman/Ferman hybrid skulking around in the depths of the BBFC.
