He was an absolute Jekyll & Hyde. The convo started off superbly and I was impressed with his politeness and film knowledge, even to the point of agreeing with him on some issues. When I mentioned Straw Dogs and The Exorcist it was as though I was suddenly talking to a different person. Extremely superior and unwilling to discuss them any further. We spoke for about 40 minutes. We snarled for the last 10 of them. |

Mr Ferman, what a moral guardian superstar! How did we get through the 90's without him? Would there be an audience for Cannibal Holocaust without the animal cruelty altogether? Just try and get the rest of the horror through? Saw Hostel Part 2 last night for the first time........HOW THE HELL CAN THEY CUT SHAMELESS TITLES?!?!?!??!!??! |

I've been known to double even triple dip on a title on occasion sometimes even if the content of the dvd is the same just because I might like the artwork on a dvd from another country lol and although i really do hate buying a film that has been censored by our friends at the BBFC, I really do love the covers that Shameless have been putting out, especially the New York Ripper cover.Think I may have to take a shopping trip at the weekend and buy it, and of course, any other Shameless titles I might happen to see |

I found Hostel 2 repulsive and lacking in the verve and style that marks out giallos from the simplistic nastiness often found in modern horror winging its way through the BBFC. So far we've done not bad though and I'm pleased that you like our covers enough to buy twice - I'm sorry two of the films are cut but we are going to put the cut bits on our website for members so they don't have to completely miss out! |

I'm "guilty" of double dipping a lot of genre faves, mostly those, which are also still banned in my home country, Germany. Buying the likes of "Antro", "NYR", "Tenebrae" several times can sometimes feel like a "personal statement", "subversive act"...or simply a lack of common and financial sense Anyway, as a collector, how could you say "no" to another lovely presented edition of your most frequently watched flicks - and the "NYR" cover by Shameless got me instantly . A collection is so much more than just watching the flicks. Different cover sleeves, language options etc sometimes also prompt me to shell out 3x + for a title I like. By the way: It's officially the 80's in Germany's censorship pollicy again as their "BPJM" just put the likes of "Hostel Part 2" (!) and "See No Evil" (!!!) in their already cut German DVD editions on the (B) list of the "Index of Restricted Movies", this (B) list is reserved for titles they deem worthy of a ban, which seems to be only a formality the way things are looking like right now.: They obviously want to crack down the most recent wave of violent movies even before the mainstream has moved on to the next "big thing". Scary times..... Last edited by Peter Neal; 29th February 2008 at 06:43 PM. |

I often double dip, in fact thanks to Shameless i'm now treble dipping, damn you guys! I'll even buy the awful Manhattan Baby to complete my anal nature. There are films you often feel passionate about, my biggest vice is Deep Red, which I have about a dozen different versions of, as well as The Wicker Man (73), this has become actually a bit of a nasty habit! I must curb this addiction. |

I know the illness only too well! Have you got any of the various rather odd UK DVDs of the Argentos like Deep Red, Bird, Cat O'Nine Tails and Bava's Demons films?

Platinum seemed to be the marketeers for Argento films at one point. They released Profondo Rosso twice in the UK. One as the longer Italian language print (cut by the BBFC) and then again as a 2-on-1 DVD containing both prints (the BBFC cuts were mysteriously restored in the English language print).

Being as platinum were part of Vipco, does anyone know if they have ceased too? I have both releases of Deep Red via Black Horse/Vipco/Platinum as well as pretty much every overseas release. I was never a big fan of cat O Nine tails. As for demons I have the UK prints, and still have the Avatar VHS.As well of as course the Anchor bay, and obscure Dragon edition. |
