Eat That Question: Frank Zappa in his own words

Great fun made up of old footage. Of most interest is a VERY straight looking FZ on the Steve Allen Show
Recommended to fans of fun.

This is a well-crafted slasher film which retains its tension and atmosphere even with repeated viewings. Roger Spottiswoode does a great job of using the single location to imbue a sense of claustrophobia and narrow down the number of suspects whilst increasing the danger for our protagonists extremely well.

It's a good slasher movie which 88 Films have included in their Slasher Classics Collection with a bunch of extra features including two commentaries which I intend to watch over the next couple of days.
Documentary??

I know travelling on trains is a thankless task, but I never imagined...

10 Years With Hayao Miyazaki is a 4 part doc from Japanese channel NHK giving an unrivalled look at his creative process and some really awkward moments such as when he went to a staff preview of his son's debut film Tales of Earthsea.

https://www3.nhk.or.jp/nhkworld/en/o...video/3004569/

You can only watch it on the NHK website but if you have a Chromecast then you can send it to your telly

Wild Wild Country (2018)

Recommended by a fellow Franco fanatic on FB.
No, it's not about Jesus, but it is about a guru

Cults. Aren't they just wrong somehow? Maybe. So when an Indian swami and his (many) followers relocate to a remote area of Oregon in the USA, trouble isn't far behind.
Only two episodes in and I'm torn.
These "cultists" seem to be demonised by a secretly made film that shows their practises in an unfavourable light ( a mixture of what looked like to me various yogic methods and a large chunk of Janov's primal scream therapy) somewhat, sending the "god fearing" citizens into a mass panic which involves them taking potshots at the "city" that these folk (dressed in maroon) have built, reclaiming arid land and literally making use of a desert for all intense purposes.
And we all know how much muricans love the colour red ahem.
Sane, rational behaviour in a land where they force children to pray to a piece of cloth each morning in school. If it all goes tits up in the next episode (6 in total) FAIR ENOUGH. But the second ends with a bombing of the groups hotel, and isn't that terrorism??
Hmmmmm????
Like I say I'm torn.
More to come!!!!

Good Good!!!

On a tangent. Louis Theroux has met the Tiger King!! More from that crazed world!!! From the lion's mouth so to speak (mixed metaphor alert!! ). LAWDY. Bring it on.

I say tangent, because the recommender of WWC was rather down on Joe Exotic etc, and boosted that in favour of "something truly gripping" (his words).
Ahem. Night all!!

Pui Chan: Kung Fu Pioneer

If you are interested in Kung fu or Martial arts, this is a very interesting documentary. Available on Amazon Prime.

Escaping from oppression in China. Pui Chan is one of the pioneers of bringing traditional Kung fu to America.

Wild Wild Country

WELL THEN.

Not quite the storm in a teacup I had hoped for....
Maybe if he'd been a banker, he'd have gotten away with it?
Hmmm?
Fear is a powerful tool, wielded by those in power to keep their herds in line.
Whilst the "inner circle" are not exactly blameless (COUGH!!!), I still felt that those "god fearing" townsfolk brought it on themselves. If someone took pleasure in shooting willy nilly at unarmed people you were living with, how would you feel about it?
Recommended.
