Yes, I think the film is a milestone because of the filming techniques employed, which were revolutionary at the time. I can't say I was bowled over by the content of the film, but the masterful execution really is amazing.

I'm about the same, but I'm always surprised by how funny the screenplay is, just how good the first time actors are and how innovative Welles' use of sound is to the development of sound in films.

Touch of Evil is a great film, although if you want nightmarish Welles, I'd highly recommend The Trial. Superb film.

My German Ascot Elite dvd of Exterminator 2 arrived today, and the back of the sleeve said it had a reversible cover (which was expected) but it also said with alternate motiv. So here's the reverse. Myself and Reaper will be happy! Only wish they had kept the original title font for this artwork. Ah well, there's still the Shout Factory release for that (and hopefully in widescreen).

My Basket Case Trilogy Steelbook arrived yesterday, along with another as I accidentally ordered two. In order to get into the case, you have to get through an incredibly well stuck paper outer sleeve, which ripped at the bottom.

To say I was annoyed would be an understatement. DON'T USE INDUSTRIAL STRENGTH GLUE TO STICK DOWN PAPER!

Sam, great selection of purchases there, especially the Redemption/Kino and Criterion BDs.

Sam those are great titles, a fantastic selection. I've spent so much non-disposable cash on Criterions last week, I am trying my best to stay away from all the bargains flying around. Although I couldn't resist picking up the Planet of the Apes Blu boxset (that's the 5 originals). 20 bucks from Amazon and the US box has a slight edge on the UK issue - the final Apes film comes with an extended cut on the US box...

Must be a rogue copy Nos.
Never had that bother with mine.

Anyone wondering if The Blood Beast Terror is worth the upgrade, then the answer is definetly yes.
