Bloody hell what a topic. All that 'i can't now narrow down ten british tv shows' bollocks we had last week? Well this week thats me. I could give you a top 50 80's actioners. Think i may set myself some parameters to help with this.

You're right – that's made the task of whittling down to only 10 a bit easier!

I think my issue here is more to do with too much genre cross-over.

Plugging 'Action' and '1980-1989' into my search filters returns a fair few films that I wouldn't necessarily class as 'action' films yet certainly have action elements to them e.g. Beverly Hills Cop, Blade Runner, Ghostbusters, The Hidden, Tetsuo, They Live, The Thing... so it's going to be difficult to know where to draw the line where 'action' is concerned.

To me, 80's action = tank top/white vest, guns, wise guy banter, lots of very red blood, Arnie and explosions

Personally I'm going to try and exclude Sci-fi and fantasy...

It is a tough one, but completely subjective. As far as I'm concerned, the Indiana Jones films are action-adventures, so qualify as action films, though they aren't as associated with the genre as something like Missing in Action 2, Commando or The Killer. Buddy cop movies such as Red Heat, Lethal Weapon, Beverly Hills Cop, or 48 Hrs. could feature quite heavily because they are so action-oriented.

I'm not really a fan of films like that. The Arnie stuff I like tends to be more sci-fi orientated like Predator, Terminator and Total Recall.

I'm going to try and avoid horror/fantasy to a point, but certain sci-fi (especially post-apocalyptic stuff like The Road Warrior) is fair game in my opinion.

Personally I will be having the likes of Total Recall in my list, but I think Blade Runner is stretching a bit There is a very fine line to be drawn.

I'm pretty much the same in my tastes and intentions.

Yeah The Road Warrior will make mine, at the risk of stretching my own rules. That said, i might break another rule and do a separate ten purely for sci-fi action, we'll see.
