I imagine that we won't be seeing The Avengers on Blu-ray any time soon, seeing as Optimum have just recently released this rather natty looking boxset. If I forked out best part of £150 only for it to be announced on BD I would be mighty miffed!

The Complete Avengers 50th Anniversary Edition DVD: Amazon.co.uk: Patrick Macnee, Diana Rigg, Honor Blackman, Joanna Lumley, Ian Hendry: Film & TV

Nice. I'll see how it stacks up next to the Criterion. Wonderful soundtrack too which I used to have on vinyl.

Yeah, I've pre-ordered the UK one, but I may cancel it if I hear that the Criterion version is drastically better.

I don't know if this has been mentioned before, but Senna is getting the digibook treatment.

Play.com - Buy Senna: Collector's Edition (Digibook) (2 Discs) (Blu-ray) online at Play.com and read reviews. Free delivery to UK and Europe!

Confession time: I've never seen Merry Christmas, Mr Lawrence, but will check the new Blu-ray release to see what I've been missing all these years.

I have Senna already preordered -- the one with the production notes.

It seems someone has taken note of the criticism of the Straw Dogs artwork, so the DVD and BD will be released with this artwork:

it's a massive improvement, I'm sure you'll agree.

I don't quite 'get' why DVD distributors feel the need to reinvent covers. Why not just use classic artwork that people are familiar with, that's far more eyecatching. An original artwork will catch my eye from one end of the shop to another. Some generic Scream-type heads in a row artwork is generally ignored.

But yes, so far, the artwork for this has failed. Oh well. Try harder next time. I'll pick it up anyway, you know it. Gotta have this in HD irrespective of cover art.
