They're still keeping the font/general style of it to match the remake which is the thing I disliked the most about the previous cover. It is better, but only marginally so.

I believe it's also the same font that was used on the previous Freemantle dvd.

I am interested to see the remake.
Few reviews I seen aint sad its bad but not as powerful or good as the original.

They really should used the image of Hoffman with the broken glasses. I guess that would have been too easy. Hell, even the Freemantle dvd cover is better than these BD covers!

That image is so iconic they may have been trying to come up with something different but still representative of one of the key moments in the film. I don't know, I'm only speculating, but the cracked glasses are much better than the shot of the smoking shotgun barrels.

I think it's quite a big improvement considering they were almost in a Catch-22/damned if you do, damned if you don't situation where, if they used the usual artwork many people would wonder why they didn't use something fresh and original and, if they did (as they have done), people wonder why they didn't use the 'usual' artwork!

Each to their own I guess. I'll always take original artwork over "improved" stuff any day. Even the US is a lot better...and that's still pretty bad.
