Just had an e-mail from Amazon today to say that the BFI BDs of The Black Panther and Nightbirds have been delayed until 28th May.

Hopefully the release of The Wicker Tree will convince someone that The Wicker Man NEEDS a BD release now!

I have the Criterion Collection BD, which has excellent picture and sound quality. Hopefully, this release will be as good even though it doesn't look like it comes with the comprehensive booklet Criterion have with their DVD and BD releases.

In any case, it's great news for anyone who can't play Region A discs.

Although Birth of a Nation is, with its racist overtones, a fairly repellent film, it's also a superb piece of filmmaking and D.W. Griffith easily qualifies as a Master of Cinema, so hopefully this release will be followed by Intolerance.
