So I watched the mighty Martyrs tonight.Shocking violence? Check. Winceful violence? Check. It was a good film,as shocking as it's rep suggests, but was anyone else somewhat let down by 'the plot behind it all'?

I found that the back plot of "Martyrs" was really good, however I have an interest in religion and the occult which I believe gives me a bit more insight into the whole back story.Without giving too much away of the plot many religions/occultists use pain and isolation to seek the divine.

One of the things that puzzled me was how long was Anna down there.I tried to work it out by the length of her arm pit hair!!!But then remembered she was french so it could have just have been minutes.

God Told Me too And Pranks double on the vipco label @ £3

Dolly Dearest (£6)

Graveyard (£2)

Dentist II (Seen this one before VHS when younger) (£6)

From A Whisper To A Scream (£7)

Cradle Of Fear (£4)

Alone In The Dark (80's) (£7)

Killer Must Kill Again (£10)

Martin (£5)

A word of warning; the quality of those two Vipco movies is abysmal and i think Dentist 2 is cut.

If Alone In The Dark is the old Palance/Pleasence VHS then it's cut as well.

I rewatched the VHS of Plan 9 From Outer Space which is a must for any collection. Just impossible to dislike this film, as it's mesmerising in it's awfulness. Every line is a scriptwriter's dream.

"We found a lot of suspicious things out in that cemetery - but then again we didn't find anything to base a fact of suspicion on".

"Did you hear anything?"
"I thought I did"
"I don't like hearing noise - especially when there ain't supposed to be any
"

"Visits? That would indicate visitors"

"This is the most fantastic story I've ever heard"
"And every word of it is true too"
"That's the fantastic part of it
"

"One thing's sure. Inspector Clay is dead. Murdered ---- and somebody's responsible!!!"

Glad you enjoyed Martyrs reaps, even if you felt let down by the plot device! . I feel a bit like MTDS, I quite like all that religious mythology stuff.
