I really enjoyed the remake of The Crazies. I thought it was really entertaining; one of the ones I forget about when putting forward the argument for not all remakes being crap.

Oh dear.

House On Haunted Hill was kind of fun, but the other two...ugh!

Must admit that I have found BOTH versions to 'The Crazies' to be hard watching

Really? I loved Romero's. Found it intense and thought-provoking, with a great cast.

I thought the remake was just an awful mess with no redeeming features at all. I had high hopes from the trailer too. But it was a disaster.

Ah well...

I really enjoyed it. It's nothing like the Romero version but there's something about it that I do enjoy

I'm not overly fond of either version of The Crazies, although I do find Romero's version to be superior.

NIGHTBIRDS - This is an amazing film. I mean, in some ways it's awful, but its weirdness helps it transcend its badness... it feels like a sort of amateur nouvelle vague kitchen sink nightmare, set in the derelict attic squat of a predatory hippie who takes lost urchins under her wing. As a film, it really does map out its own reality, which feels disconnected from anything around it whilst at the same time remaining strongly evocative of the bleached out end of the sixties. It may just be incompetence, but some aspects really puzzled / facinated me - like the soundtrack, which is feels on the brink of being overwhelmed by incidental environmental noise and has a really sinister, muffled quality. After years of watching ANdy Milligan films and thinking "this is shit, but I keep coming back - why?", 'Nightbirds' may be the answer I was looking for.

Watched "Demons" (1985) for what seems like the millionth time and have just finished watching "Don't Go in the House" (1980) time for some sleep so that I can watch some more of the TV series "Spooky" before watching more films from the comfort of bed!

oh forgot to say I loved "The Fiend" (1972) - I might be the only one but I loved the music in it.
