No Hammer for me today (yet), but I did watch Back to the Future on Blu Ray for the first time today, highly recommended because it looks fantastic, I'm hoping the other two look just as good!
Probably going to carry on with the Hammer theme later on after a certain football match on ITV1, I'm thinking maybe The Devil Rides Out or Dracula:POD

The Frightened Woman
Not quite sure what to make of that one (in a good way…I think). I’m not sure if the ending redeemed it, or was just a cheap get-off-the-hook for the incessant scenes of female degradation. That said, I didn’t feel the audience was ever meant to side with the fella – he’s clearly presented as a repulsive nutter. The second half was especially strange – feel like I need to watch it again just to get my head around the whole medieval castle segment! Actually, just thinking back, it’s quite amazing how mad this film is! I want to watch it again now…

The Cynic, the Rat, and the Fist
Probably the sweariest EuroCrime dub I’ve come across (probably wins some kind of award for most use of the word ‘twat’) . Good trashy fun – Saxon and Millian were both great as the rival mob bosses. Thought the Maurizio Merli hero character was a bit of a dick though, kind of like an Italian Chuck Norris…

I've gushed enough about Femina Ridens but frankley, I don't care. It's freakin bat shit fruity and I love it, nice to see it at least took your interest for a ride SJ.

Incidently I was planing on watching TC,TR,aTF later in the weekl, really enjoyed Violent Naples last night and will be sticking with Eurocrime for a bit.

Daughters of Darkness - had the BU bluray on my shelf for some while but took up the opportunity to see it on the big screen this week. Loved it. Low on plot but high on atmosphere and style with some genuinely erotic scenes.

Pervert! - Absolute sewage. Attempts to justify its existence as a Russ Meyer tribute but lacks the cinematic eye and satire of the big-breast-fixated one. It overstays its welcome about 7 minutes in which is a pretty damning criticism of a film only 80 minutes long.

Great minds think alike, which frankly doesn't explain this coincidence.

I watched it on Netflix during a 30 day trial, thankfully, because if I'd have paid for it or rented it from Lovefilm, I would've been pissed off, one of the worst films I watched last year!

Completed the Hammer Karnstein Trilogy last night with the excellent Twins of Evil, I love Peter Cushing in this as a kind of Matthew Hopkins type character, and of course who doesn't love the titular twins

The R1 is a nice release. I mainly remember the film from its many tv appearances during my adolescence, so releiving it through the 23rdC version was shall we say underwhelming cough. Go for it. It's an unusual "satanic" film due to the location etc.
