I agree.

No-one will ever want my Redemption disks of "Cold Eyes Of Fear" and "Frightmare"! And I don't blame them!

Its a pity because they have some really good films in their catalog that have superb orginal art. But they seem to think a blue background with a woman wearing kids vampire teeth is better.

I have the AWE disc of Cold Eyes of Fear and it is anamorphic.

The newer Redemption covers are slightly improved, but have to agree with you that they have some of the worst covers around...

I watched The Hanging Woman today and thought it was pretty good. It was nice to see Naschy on top form too (even though he only had a supporting role).

Not horror (unless you count William Berger's green corduroy suit!) but I watched If You Meet Sartana Pray For Death.

I love this film - always have since I first saw it late on ITV when I was a teenager. It's one of the best Spaghetti Westerns IMO though astonishingly derivative (but, hey, aren't most of them!). I did have 4:3 pan & scan taped from ITV years ago but this is long gone (got rid of hundreds, maybe thousands, of video cassettes when I last moved). The Wild East release is now a horribly expensive collector's item, so I bought the VideoAsia bootleg set The Sartana Saga which has all the official Sartana films and a load of off-shots, spin-offs and retitled cash-ins too.

I enjoyed the film as much as ever but the print is a disgrace. Clearly originally from a side cropped 4:3 video recording, the colours are over saturated and the ratio has been manipulated into a squashed and stretched mess that no setting on my TV could display properly. Sound is fine and there is surprisingly little grain for a transfer from tape. There is a glitch in one scene which shows that it is almost certainly sourced from a tape of the same source used for the Wild East release (which also had aspect artio problems).

A film like this deserves a restoration I think. I know it wouldn't sell in the millions, but there are enough Italian Western fans who would buy it justify a hunt for decent source materials and a correct ratio release surely?

Someone is missing an opportunity IMO, this is a great film and is crying out for a decent DVD issue.

Rant over...next week I will appeal for the DVD releases of Blanche and La Marge...
