BAD TEACHER. Quite funny comedy with knob and lady bits jokes.

CAGED FURY. Late 80s W.I.P. flick that is a bit too knowing to be the kind of scuzz I was craving at the time.

36th CHAMBER OF SHAOLIN. Outstanding martial arts film. Highly recommended.

THE GREEN HORNET. Overlong and pretty daft however excessive amounts of shit blows up at the end to compensate.

Tango and Cash.

Stallone and Kurt Russell in a film thats pure, daft fun from beginning to end. Jack palance plays an excellent gaspy villain (with mice!) and Brion James has the oddest english accent I have ever heard. Tons of fun.

The specialist.

A film noir with Sharon stone getting her kit off yet again in a bid to become the american Sylvia Krystel. Not as bad as Assassins and not as outright terrible as i remember. James Woods finds the right pitch for his performance as the leering bad guy and Rod Steiger gives a bizzarly racist performance as the latino drug lord. Eric Roberts is his son, but its Eric roberts....meh!
This ends up being a film noir with some nice explosions. Seen better though.

Demolition man.

Stallone goes back to being fun in a neat little sci-fi action film where he's hunting Wesley snipes dyed blonde nutter after being cryogenically frozen. Goes after the nanny state mentality with plenty of decent humor and some violence.

First Blood

Before the Rambo films became a cheesy, and frankly appalling cartoon with the dreadful Rambo 2 and 3 (utter, utter shite of the first order, both of them) It's easy to forget the original First blood is actually a decent action picture with a heart, and not the jingoistic parody it would get turned into.
Stallone plays John Rambo, a vietnam vet wandering on foot across America. He ends up wandering through the wrong town and role-crazy lawman Brian Denehey decides to make sport of him. Quicker than you can say Nam flashback the troubled veteran has disappeared into the hills and the the law pursues with disastrous results.
As well as delivering a fine piece of action cinema, the film manages to make a fine point about the poor way a country can treat its war veterans after the fightings done. First Blood is still a great movie that its terrible sequels have not diminished.

Cliffhanger.

Renny Harlin delivers a great piece of action cinema with Stallone and Michael Rooker having to deal with a demented John Lithgow up a mountain, with some genuinely breathtaking stunt work and action. Still a great deal of fun, if you get the Stallone three film set on Blu-ray you get the uncut special edition for a very low price.

Had myself a bit of an Elm St day today.
First up was the excellent Never Sleep Again documentary, all 4 hours of it, plus the multitude of extras on the second disc. Then I watched the much panned 2010 remake, which, as I've said numerous times, I'm a fan of and I've just rounded the day off by watching Wes Craven's original

Also been contemplating spending $175 (roughly £105) to get this book published by the team that brought us the Never Sleep Again doc.

N.B $175 is the only way UK fans can get the book, but you do get your name printed in it as a thank you for backing the project.

Few nights ago De Palmas Phantom of the Paradise...erm...not sure.
Tonight I watched Blood On Satan's Claw for the first time and I have to admit I found myself wanting to like it more. Some poor acting let it down for me which I find is a problem with a lot of 70's films. Still it wasn't a bad film and I could see it being a grower. Odeons blu is awesome though with a stunning transfer. Gonna try watching it again with the League commentary.

Guess what? "Machete Kills" is crap but crap in the way that makes it good! I gave "Machete" quite a high score on the "troggi's scoring system" (patents pending) and I see no reason to score the follow up much lower. 24/10 just for the "entrails caught in the helicopter rotor" scene!

Remember "Machete does not tweet!"

Happy Birthday to me

Not a bad film but overlong for what it was, either the film was cut or the kills were a very tame poor show. The reveal was a little complex for someone like me with Tourette syndrome to take in but I think I figured it.

Julia X

Dutch Unrated Import.

A Psycho who gets turned on by pain & has an Obsession with the carpenters greatest hits likes to kill his internet dates but meets his match as his date also likes to kill her dates, then that's about it plotwise then comes a 1 hour 19 minute excuse for a non stop Bloodbath in the same camp as Saw,Hostel etc.

When this comes out in the Uk the BBFC will have a field day by the time it has been cut to ribbons (at least 6 minutes loss I'd say) you are looking at basically an hour or so of 2 psychos trying to murder each other in a warped game.

Dust Devil (uncut)

Not a Bad film but it's not for me.I may revisit at a later time I have found on many occasions a revisit after a long time to a fair few films changes my mind.

amazing Spiderman Part 2. This unimaginative rehash of other films demonstrates for a second time that there was no need for a reboot. Not really bad, but far too little to recommend.

Two things really spoilt the rebooted version for me. I hate the mechanical web shooters what a crap idea, the organic/genetic ones in Raimi's films made much more sense to me.
And I don't particularly care for Andrew Garfields cocky little git take on Peter Parker.

I took my boys to watch it at the weekend and really enjoyed it. I like the Raimi films, but they'd be far better if they didn't star Kirsten Dunst, who is one of the worst actresses I've ever seen!
Give me Emma Stone any day!
