Pleasantly surprised by this as I saw the name Eli Roth and so wasn't excepting much, but he only presented it.
This isn't aimed at you Treb, just a general observation.

Not sure why there's such a dislike for Eli Roth. The guys only directed 3 films all of them pretty good and one of them - Hostel ,coined a whole new genre term in torture porn.

His films are well made and definitely pushed the boundaries of gore at the time. The Countess Dracula pastiche in Hostel II is a superb cringe inducing set piece. Also his enthusiasm and love for the horror genre is infectious.

The tone of Rise was just too jarring. It felt like a spoof almost.
Salvation felt like a Terminator movie and Christian Bale was a supporting player in it.
Nick Stahl? Nah, Edward Furlong was John Connor and one thing I really struggle with regardless of the reasons behind it is the changing of actors in films.

Eli Roth's arrogance and opinion of himself is quite a bit higher than his actual talent in my opinion. Ok, so he is a fan of horror but there are many other directors who probably love it as much but don't get nowhere near the same exposure.

Remember when he attacked his fans for the failure of Hostel 2 just because of its poor box office, not because its a decent film but no masterpiece he seems to think it is.

Ill never forgive him for trying to remake The Bad Seed and saying this “The original was a great psychological thriller, and we are going to bastardize and exploit it, ramping up the body counts and killings,” said Roth. “This is going to be scary, bloody fun, and we’re going to create the next horror icon, a la Freddy, Jason and Chucky. She’s this cunning, adorable kid who loves to kill, but also loves ‘N Sync.”

SATURN 3 (1980)

Another film I had not seen in quite a while. Glad of a revisit because I enjoyed it. The soundtrack score gives the film a very eerie feel with it's chants of "murder. murder'. The sets look pretty good with the stations long corridors and seen in half light adds to the atmosphere. With 8 foot tall psycho robot Hector cutting hands off and people getting shredded in air locks this was one of the more horror sci-fi flicks that came out in the wake of Star Wars back in the good old days.
